Senior Economist of the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), Dr. John Kwakye, claims the government needs to explain to Ghanaians why it decided to apply for an IMF bailout.
He contends that citizens must be informed about important decisions made by the government since they are essential components of a democratic system.
Speaking on The Big Issue on Saturday, he asserted that revealing the specifics of the government’s decision will enable analysts and other interested parties to understand the justification and, ideally, come to the same conclusion that it is a positive step.
He stated that before making a judgment, the government should have undertaken extensive consultations on the issue.
