A recent Marvel trailer was released for their last movie of phase four in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) at Comic-Con 2022 paying tribute to the late actor Chadwick Boseman in their “Wakanda” franchise.
The trailer gave us a glimpse of a couple of emotional scenes of “King T’challa” passing on to the ancestral plane though we don’t know the cause of his death because the movie is yet to be released.
Chadwick Boseman’s “King T’challa in the MCU” passed on at 43, after battling colon cancer for four years.
His publicist Nicki Fioravante, reported that the actor died on August 28, 2020, in Los Angeles, California, the United States in his residence with his family by his side.
The family also furthered this by saying “A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and several more- all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”
Chadwick Boseman became the leading star of the MCU’s first black-led film, Black Panther, and took the character to heights no one could have ever imagined. In just four appearances as King T’Challa, Boseman took the somewhat unknown comic character to a different height. Comic Terms like Wakanda and Vibranium have become household vocabulary for millions of kids all because of what Boseman brought.

After his passing Marvel has to decide if they will recast his role or not.
Nate Moore, Marvel’s VP of development broke the news by saying
“You will not see T’Challa in the MCU 616 universe,” Moore said. “We couldn’t do it. I will say, when Chad passed, it was a real conversation we had with Coogler about ‘what do we do?’ And it was a fast conversation. It wasn’t weeks, it was minutes of, ‘We have to figure out how to move this franchise on without that character.’”
He furthered by saying “Because I think we all feel so much of T’Challa in the MCU on the screen, not the comics, is tied to Chadwick’s performance, is what he brought to that role, on and off-screen, I would argue. So as hard as it is narratively to figure out what to do because that’s a big hole, at no point did we consider recasting him. So the challenge for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is telling a story without T’Challa.
Chadwick Boseman was more than just an actor, He was more than a person, Chadwick was more than an icon, he was the representation of black excellence in the movie industry as a whole.
