Philip Basoah, the Member of Parliament representing the Kumawu Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has passed away at the age of 54. The cause of his death is currently unknown.

Basoah was born on November 18, 1969, and won the 2016 general elections in the Kumawu constituency to become a member of parliament in 2017.
Prior to his tenure in Parliament, he served as the Chief Executive for the Sekyere East District from June 2005 to January 2009. He also worked as a tutor at the Agogo State College.
During the 2016 Ghana general elections, Philip Basoah won the parliamentary seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party with 21,794 votes, which accounted for 78.2% of the total votes cast.
In the 2020 Ghana general elections, he won the parliamentary seat again, this time with 14,960 votes, which represented 51.1% of the total votes cast.
