Aimed at promoting diversity and empowerment, the multi-day music festival unites pop and hip-hop performers.
Pharrell Williams, the American record producer, rapper, singer, and songwriter who founded the festival in 2019, has announced that the 2023 edition of Something in the Water Music Festival will be held in Virginia Beach, VA from April 28 to April 30.
Last year, due to Pharrell’s criticism of Virginia Beach as “toxic” and his desire for the city to take a more proactive stance following the fatal shooting of his cousin Donovon Lynch by a police officer in March 2021, the festival was relocated from Virginia Beach to Washington, D.C. Lynch was killed in a night of chaos that resulted in 10 separate shooting incidents.
